Abstract

An K'a'ch Guzmán Marcos, an Ixil health care worker in the Ixil region, Guatemala, describes how cosmology forms an integral part of the people's identity. She describes the importance of cosmic health to the lives of the people, and the increasingly successful efforts of Ixil workers to build bridges of understanding with the biomedical medical profession.

An K’a’ch is an Ixil technical trainer and translator, who works with New Sun Road to empower women in remote communities in Guatemala through digital leadership, entrepreneurial skills and gender-based violence awareness. She has an academic degree in sociolinguistics and another degree in pedagogy and educational administration, and she lives in Nebaj, Quiché, Guatemala.
