Abstract (300 words maximum)
This presentation reviews a proposed phenomenological study that seeks to uncover the stories of Non-Traditional College students experiencing homelessness. Published research has focused primarily on the experiences of “traditional” college students (aged 18-24) experiencing homelessness and fails to account for the innate complexities, challenges, and vulnerabilities unique to non-traditional students (typically aged 24+). We hope to discover underlying phenomena that may help future research explore this routinely omitted population. Possible findings could include phenomena such as the widespread inability to obtain support services as a result of the population's complex age range.
Keywords: Homelessness, College, Non-Traditional, McKinney-Vento, Higher Education, Tertiary, Poverty, Human Services, Food Insecurity.
