Abstract
This poster board project is one that my partner, Alexis Farmer, and I took a lot of pride in. We put a great deal of time into it and were filled with joy to see the fruits of our labor afterwards. The presentation was actually inspired by an assignment I had for another class, where I was instructed to attend a restaurant and write a report on it: the atmosphere, food, lighting, attire, service, etc. Now most students might have just went to Taco Mac down the street or even Chick-fil-A, but I decided to go out and do some upscale dining in Atlanta because I saw the extra cost as an investment in my future career. You need to observe those striving in the industry that you see yourself being a part of one day. Starting out, we had no clear idea how to go about turning my experience at the restaurant into a project. We thought about making food, dressing as belly dancers, and using props, but soon realized our ideas were a little out of reach. So we focused on educating the viewer on how Moroccan cuisine became what it is today and offering insight into the cultural experience you might have if you were to visit the Fez. Our research for the poster board was in depth; we used culinary textbooks and history books to explore what makes Moroccan cuisine so special. In the end, our goal was to excite people into experiencing Moroccan cuisine for themselves.
