About Symposium (IMADE)

Industrial and Manufacturing Approaches
in Decarbonization and Efficiency (IMADE) Symposium

September 23-24, 2024
Kennesaw State University

The IMADE symposium, primarily funded by US Department of Energy’s Southeastern Center of Excellence, is a platform for undergraduate and graduate students of the Industrial Assessment Centers (IACs) to present their research efforts related to efficiency and decarbonization. Other sponsors include Georgia Institute of Technology (GT), Kennesaw State University (KSU), and the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC)

Join the IMADE Symposium to:

  • Present your research and benefit from constructive peer feedback.
  • Participate in workshops on efficiency and decarbonization approaches.
  • Network with industry professionals and IAC alumni to shape your career.

For initial consideration, please submit a structured abstract (Structured Abstract Template). On the structured abstract, please indicate which of the three routes you would like to pursue. More information for each route is provided below.

IMADE Schedule

The main topics are:

  1. Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization Approaches
  2. Electrification and Renewable Energy Integration
  3. Lean Manufacturing and Productivity Enhancement
  4. Carbon Capture, Storage, and Utilization
  5. Onsite Energy Generation and Combined Heat and Power
  6. Resiliency and Smart Technologies in Energy Applications

Work that has been submitted to or already presented at another conference will be considered as long as it has not been published in the conference proceedings or a journal.

Description and Requirements for each path:

Research Paper: A complete scholarly report of work that has been done. After approval of the structured abstract, a paper of between 5-8 pages adhering to standard academic standards for presentation and citation will need to be submitted and approved. (Report Template)

Work in Progress (WIP): A report describing work that is underway or has not yet been fully written up. After approval of the structured abstract, submission consists of an extended abstract with up to 2 pages of text (excluding references and supporting materials). (Extended Abstract Template)

Poster: An interactive format in which the authors present a poster describing their work. After approval of the structured abstract, submission consists of an abstract that describes the problem statement, methodological approach, progress description, and contribution. (Poster Template)
