Description of Work
Marietta Square is an iconic part of Georgia and its early history. It serves as “Heart of Marietta City” with its many buildings, sites, and activities to venture into. Glover Park, the central space of the square, has a rich history and significant importance of its own to Marietta Square.1 If Marietta square is the heart, many would attest that Glover Park is the city’s soul. Over the years, the park has gone through many changes, but its initial purpose remains evident. It’s a primary oasis for the community to gather and convene. Regardless of the era, the park has remained a staple of communion, through war, reconstruction, and more. By observing the past and present history of the region, one can better see the never-changing role Glover Park holds.
