Students in the School of Music perform as members of a variety of ensembles including orchestras, bands, choirs, jazz bands and jazz combos, chamber ensembles, and more.

    The KSU School of Music presents a special performance featuring the KSU Symphony Orchestra, led by Director of Orchestral Studies Dr. Nathaniel Parker, and KSU Chamber Singers and University Chorale led by Dr. Leslie Blackwell, Director of Choral Activities. The program concludes with a performance of Mozart's Requiem (K. 626) and will also include additional works performed during the first half: Ola Gjeilo's "The Rose" performed by KSU Chamber Singers and Chorale and Michael Daugherty's "Red Cape Tango" performed by KSU Symphony Orchestra.

    Kicking off the holidays, the School of Music celebrates the season and presents holiday favorites performed by the KSU Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and choirs. This performance will feature a festive and exciting program including carols sung by KSU choirs, music from "The Polar Express," "Home Alone," "White Christmas," and "Elf," an audience sing-a-long, and more.

    KSU Wind Ensemble presents "Happy 100th Lenny!"

    The KSU Wind Ensemble presents a special program featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein to commemorate 100 years since the birth of the acclaimed American composer and conductor in 1918. The program will include some of the most memorable American music of the 20th Century including Overture to Candide, Make Our Garden Grow, Suite from Mass, Prelude, Fugue and Riffs, "Slava!", and Four Dances from West Side Story.

    Opera Theater, "Deception"

    KSU Opera Theater presents the annual Fall Opera Gala featuring scenes that explore the comedy of errors, chicanery, and dramatic passion in an evening of Deception. Performance includes scenes from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Verdi's Falstaff, and Bernstein's Candide. This performance will be held in Scott Hall in the Bailey Performance Center.

    Symphony Orchestra and North Georgia Honor Orchestra

    The North Georgia Honor Orchestra invites talented pre-college string instrumentalists in and around North Georgia to focus on developing advanced technical and musical skills under the guidance of the exceptional KSU School of Music faculty. The two-day event culminates in a special performance featuring the students of the North Georgia Honor Orchestra performing Carl Nielsen's Suite for String Orchestra (Op. 1) and a combined performance of Brahms' Finale from Symphony No. 2 (Op. 73) with the KSU Symphony Orchestra.

    Wind Ensemble

    This KSU School of Music performance features the KSU Wind Ensemble led by Director of Bands, Dr. David Kehler. The program includes the Georgia premiere of a special piece: David Maslanka's Symphony No. 10: "The River of Time" – the composer's final work. Maslanka had written significant portions of the symphony, but following his death in 2017, the work was completed by his son, Matthew.
