Faculty Recital: Jason Eklund, horn, "Bold New Soundscapes for Horn"

Jason Eklund, Adam Mirza, Helen Kim, Judith Cole, and John Lawless

Jason Eklund, KSU Artist-in-Residence in Horn and Assistant Professor of Music, presents a special program featuring works for horn written in the past five years, including two world premieres. Eric Alexander's piece, written for Jason Eklund for horn, violin, piano and percussion, is inspired by one of the great chamber works of all time: Johannes Brahms' Trio for Horn, Violin and Piano. The second premiere was written by Emory composer, Adam Mirza, for horn and live electronics.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

Elizabeth Koch Tiscione

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra returns to Kennesaw State University to tackle classical symphonies by two big personalities and feature KSU's own as soloist. The spirit of 18th-century composer Franz Joseph Haydn hovers over this concert led by conductor Carlo Rizzi. 20th century Russian Sergei Prokofiev pays homage to Haydn in his nimble and puckish "Classical" Symphony while Beethoven, a cantankerous student of Haydn, echoed the master in his sunny and explosively exuberant Symphony No. 2 one hundred years earlier. Elizabeth Koch Tiscione, ASO Principal Oboe and KSU Artist-in-Residence, solos in Mozart's Oboe Concerto.
Junior and Non-degree Recital: Hayden McAfee, horn and Will Worthan, horn

Jazz Ensembles

KSU School of Music presents Jazz Ensembles featuring Jazz Ensemble I led by Director of Jazz Studies Sam Skelton, and KSU Jazz Ensemble II led by Wes Funderburk, Artist-in-Residence in Jazz Studies and Jazz Trombone.
KSU Symphony Orchestra, "Stars: In our galaxy and in one far, far away..."

This performance of the KSU Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nathaniel F. Parker features Matthew Hodgetts, clarinet, and Huijeong Lee, violin, winners of the KSU Concerto Competition. Also featured is the world premiere performance of "Cascading," composed by Eric Louis Ramos, winner of the KSU Composition Competition.
