Call for Papers
We invite you to submit papers to the inaugural edition of the Journal of Young Adult and Children’s Literature (JYACL).
The Journal of Young Adult and Children’s Literature (JYACL) is a peer-reviewed/professional journal dedicated to teaching and scholarship in the field of young adult and children’s literature. It provides an outlet for practitioners and researchers to share topics such as classroom strategies in relation to literature, literature titles in relation to both young adult and children’s literature.
Literature titles may include children’s literature and young adult literature book reviews, classroom use, strategies and structures, thematic and/or interdisciplinary units, and genre use.
Papers may include and are not limited to:
- Viewpoint Papers
- Position Papers
- White Papers
- Implementation Briefs
- Application of Literacy Strategies and Theories
- Research Papers / Case Reports
JYACLis a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to promoting the dissemination of information related to young adult and children’s literature among professionals both nationwide and internationally. This journal encourages inquiry and collaboration among practitioners and researchers by providing a platform for sharing research and practice.

Sponsoring Organizations: The Journal of Young Adult and Children’sL iterature (JYACL) is a joint venture of the College and Adult Division of the Association of Literacy Educators and Researchers (ALER) and the ILA CARE Special Interest Group of the International Literacy Association (ILA).
Guidelines for Submission: Papers should be written according to the guidelines of the APA 7th edition. The word count for typical papers should be 5,000- 6,000 words. The length may vary depending on the type of publication. Two copies should be submitted. The first copy should begin with a cover sheet indicating the type of manuscript submitted and contact information of all contributors. The second copy should be a blind copy including any photographs, tables, figures, and graphs. The original copies of photographs, tables, figures, and graphs should be submitted as separate files. As an author it is your responsibility to ensure that all materials and copyrighted work have received appropriate permission for inclusion in the journal.
