Aims & Scope

The Master of Public Administration Program and the A.L. Burruss Institute of Public Service and Research seeks to explore the effect of public policy on education, social services, neighborhood safety and other quality-of-life issues through the creation of the Georgia Journal of Public Policy.

Past issues of the Journal have included articles on federal earmark allocations in Georgia; an analysis of Atlanta Police Department strategies to improve policing through refined crime reporting procedures; the impact of the recession on economic policies adopted by local governments in Georgia’s neighboring state, South Carolina; a case study addressing the need for emergency alert systems in rural Georgia; and a report outlining the most current data on substance abuse in the state.
