“The grief that fills one’s heart”: Pairing loss narratives and graphic young adult literature

Abstract

Using graphic young adult literature as a common grief experience, this chapter examines how preservice and in-service teacher participants engage in composing loss narratives, consider the teaching implications of sharing these grief experiences with students, and find opportunities to highlight hope and build empathy within the classroom community.
