Abstract
In the Legal and Ethical Environment of Business, an often‐mandatory part of a student's core business school requirements, recent legal studies scholarship has recognized the need to implement real‐life experiences and content into an otherwise lecture‐based curriculum. Additionally, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) recently identified that business schools need to be drivers of pedagogical innovation and that the interdisciplinary nature of legal studies education provides a great platform for such change.
The Create a Law Day activity is an authentic assignment, which fosters critical thinking about the law by giving students an opportunity to identify legal issues in real‐world scenarios and then analyze how those issues can affect an outcome, helping students to see the impact that the legal environment has on business. The relevance of both the skill of analyzing problems and the authenticity of real‐life scenarios add value to the learning environment.
