Abstract

The report is the first of its kind to survey employers regarding career opportunities within international peace and conflict resolution. We believe that it will be of interest to employers, to students and professionals pursuing a career in this field, and to the academic and professional organizations that seek to prepare them. For this report, ACT interviewed 55 employers involved in international and peace and conflict resolution work, including leading non-profit organizations, US government agencies, international organizations, foundations and universities. The report focuses on what skills and type of experience individuals need to develop a successful career in the field. In addition, a resource section for job seekers is included. This project is part of ACT’s ongoing efforts to increase public knowledge and understanding of the field of conflict resolution and in particular provide information and resources regarding career and educational opportunities in the field.
