Abstract
The article presents mathematical solutions for equations that involve radicals. It notes that asking open-ended questions regarding an old mathematical problem led to various solution strategies and solutions that involved graphical, tabular, and algebraic representations of functions. The author says that as mathematics teachers, they gained fresh insights from the strategies and ideas of their students.
