Abstract
As often as computers are personified, even deified, it is probably not surprising that a computer composes and sends Christmas cards. The message in this case, however, exposes some significant traits of the medium. Brief, striking in appearance, and ostensibly a bit of poetic fooler, "The Computer's First Christmas Card" by Edwin Morgan sends a greeting that is anything but heartwarming. Its message, at base, devastates the celebration it claims to honor.
