A Marriage of True Minds: The Community of Faith in Wordsworth and Austen

Abstract

Whether or not William Wordsworth and Jane Austen ever engaged in a dialogue directly with each other, as contemporaries, they shared the spirit of the age out of which they wrote works that lauded a community of faith, of like-minded souls, dedicated to service and consecrated in Christian springs which would sustain them and theirs and bring them, they hoped, a full and fulfilling life.
