Abstract

This senior design project focuses on the Stingers dining hall located on the Marietta campus at Kennesaw State University. Stingers dining hall opened in July 2010 and feeds hundreds of students a day, being open seven days a week during the fall and spring semesters and five days a week during the summer semester. Our specific focus is on the dish room as their flow affects other areas in the dining hall. Our goal is to use six sigma methodology to optimize the space in the dish room and provide possible solutions to improve the current process used to get dishes washed and back on the floor. We used survey, simulation, economic, and informal interview analyses to suggest recommendations to Stingers management and Kennesaw State University.
