Description

Lister Sinclair, the playwright says "Art pulls a community together... Art makes you feel differently. That's what artists are doing all the time, shifting and changing the way you see life." Librarians should be added to his statement. The past few semesters, our librarians at Kennesaw State University have not just encouraged our students to access our databases but have also created a medium for them to showcase their art via digital commons and publish it globally. My talk will focus on our journey from ideation to realization

Author Bios

Shuchi graduated from California College of the Arts with an MFA in Comics in 2019. Since then she has been running her own Comic and Basic Animation workshops across the country as a part of afterschool enrichment programs. She is a freelance cartoonist for the New Yorker and has been published in several comic anthologies. She is an Assistant Professor in the department of Illustration and Sequential Art at Kennesaw State University and is currently working on her first graphic memoir "I left my heart in Stuttgart". When she is not drawing or teaching, she is hiking or spending time with her calico cat Stellar!

Heather Hankins is the institutional repository supervisor for the Kennesaw State University Libraries. She uses her role as IR supervisor to highlight and amplify the broad variety of scholarly and creative works that the KSU community creates. Heather feels that administrating an IR allows her to provide a global audience and support to anyone with something to say. She believes IRs can promote efficient knowledge dissemination and create a lasting, positive impact on the world.
