Description of Work

Having been formed in the mid 1830’s, the city of Marietta survived through some of the most tumultuous times in the country - through the formation of a booming railroad industry, a war of a country with itself, the burning of a city, and the redevelopment of a city after the war. One building in Marietta -The Kennesaw House- survived through all this and still stands today to tell the story. The building belonged to one of the very few Union families in the South.
