Description of Work

Throughout this course we have studied many cultures’ history and architecture during the Gothic Era. These cultures are the Indian, Chinese, Japanese, African, Native American, and Arabic cultures. Learning about these different cultures allowed for us to understand the connection these cultures have with their older architecture. As we were tasked to study an older church in the local area, we learned more about the church’s culture through the stained-glass windows and found out what each window represents. For my church, my group and I visited First Baptist Church located in Marietta, Georgia. After seeing the whole church and all its stained-glass windows, I have decided to research what the meaning is behind the wheat and the grapes that were displayed in the windows and its connection to the church.
