Abstract

At the present time, the geographic and economic studies which have examined various aspects of international trade have been mainly concerned with identifying the patterns which exist. Very little attention has been given to the processes which may have created the patterns. In fact, given the present state of research, we seem to be in a weak position to answer questions which relate to the processes which have created the present form of international trade. Geographic research in international trade can' be examined by looking at three problem areas. A brief summary of work done in these three areas will be
