Abstract
In 2005 my life changed unexpectedly during a field experience to Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP). Professor Jay R. Harman, a faculty member within the Department of Geography at Michigan State University, organized the experience frequently over a career spanning more than four decades.
