Abstract
The difficulties and challenges of writing a text book on a region that is so diverse as is Latin America seems unsurmountable. Therefore, any text written on the region will suffer from either incompleteness or in trying to be comprehen123 sive, misses the richness of the important diversity and differences found in this vast region . The latter is the case of Blouet and Blouet's third edition of Latin America and the Caribbean: A Systematic and Regional Survey. The textbook is a compilation of various authors edited by Blouet and Blouet. The editors combine a thematic approach and a regional survey approach to understanding Latin America.
