Abstract
Without doubt Coastal Waters of the World is one of the most comprehensive books to document diverse regional problems in the near and offshore marine coastal zones of the earth. Following a brief introduction two chapters are devoted to riparian population patterns, and marine resources and fisheries. Fourteen chapters are then presented outlining issues along the earth 's most obvious boundary-the zone separating the land and sea. Each regional chapter (e.g. Latin America, North and Baltic Seas, East Africa) has a similar format: characteristics of population and the state of environmental quality followed by a discussion of management efforts and compacted yet terse conclusions.
