Abstract
The 1997-98 school year saw an increase in volunteering for GTU members. A new initiation criterion for members is to donate five hours for the semester at any of the many off campus sites that needed help. This is an activity sponsored through the Campus Volunteer Center and is a good way to offer community service. We hosted two successful canoe trips this year: the fall trip was on our own Evergreen Lake and the spring trip was on the Vermillion River. Our members, along with the Anthropology Club, continued to keep our ISU Nature Trail clean with regularly scheduled clean up days. Geography Awareness Week was packed with various events including a bake sale, the Geography Faculty Appreciation Luncheon which was well attended, Where in the World-Name That Landscape Game, County Local Geography Bee, Annual White Elephant Auction which raised $170, and movie night showing Mosquito Coast. Six students were initiated Fall Semester with a dinner and ritual initiation held at Lucas Grill.
