Abstract
Regions of Risk is a comprehensive text that painstakingly describes how disasters and the threat of disasters shape and geographically alter communities and regions all over the world. In his introduction, Hewitt writes, "Any given risk or disaster event is distinguished by its geographic location and setting. These are important keys to the origins of danger, the forms of damage and whom they most affect."
