Abstract
Africa has a long colonial legacy. Whether it was the French in the Ivory Coast, the Portuguese in Angola, or British settlers in Southern Rhodesia, European nations had a significant impact on the social, political, and economic landscapes of Africa's cities. Such places were built and managed to reflect the needs of settlers, rather than 'natives.'
