Abstract
Alpha Chapter did an excellent job promoting geography this year. With 27 active members this was easy to do. We had several big projects that we took on. One was the restoration of the ISU Nature Trail which has been defunct for 10 years. The members enjoyed this outdoor project, picking up trash, old furniture and clearing the path. This project will continue to be on-going. We hope to write a selfguided tour book, create lesson plans for the local school teachers and add picnic tables and rebuild markers and signs. Our second project was to contact a local school and donate our time to paint 36' x 50' USA map on their playground. We accomplished this in the fall when the weather was great. The school and PTO paid for the paint and we spent a wonderful day painting bright colored states on the playground. We are going to continue this community service project.
