Abstract

It has been some time since I have heard the rather piquant phrase, "to defend one's honor." Indeed, I do not often hear the word "honor" or read of it in the current mass media. It is as though we take "honor" for granted or it has been relegated to the zone of discard along with integrity and virtue. Perhaps we have become jaundiced by the everyday, commonplace, dishonorable actions of political and business figures, and sometimes even of our closer acquaintances. Think for a moment of the aphorisms relative to honor that you have heard all of your lives. Or perhaps you recall these:
