Abstract
When it was suggested I reminisce about American geography I was delighted to grasp the opportunity, for nothing pleases the ego more of one who has lived a long time than to discourse upon the events of his youth. The situation is especially gratifying when one ca n cast his words of wisdom upon a captive audience. The limitations of time made it seem advisable to record my thoughts. At best an attempt to squeeze into a 25- minute period, a story which covers several decades is not only audacious but probably doomed to failure. I trust you will forgive me for reading the words I am about to speak
