Abstract
Without Them is the story of 17-year-old Ella who loses her parents in a car crash. She has her life further upended when she and her young brother, Bennett, have to move to a small lake town in Virginia with their bachelor uncle. It is a story of loss but is also a coming of age story about how to rebuild a life and a home in spite of overwhelming grief.
