Description

Metadata documentation is extremely important for maintaining any digital collection. At its core, the documentation explains how the institution wants their metadata formatted. However, it can expand beyond this and lay out a road map for how the digital collection should develop. In this presentation, I will recount how I created metadata documentation for Mississippi State University's Institutional Repository and Digital Collections that mixed together potential user needs, increasing accessibility, planning for new types of materials, and, of course, metadata for a variety of objects.
