Isolation of Heavy Pnicogen Metals from High Temperature Reaction of Urea with Metal(III) Oxides

Bismuth and antimony were prepared. from their sesquioxides by heating with urea as reductant. From the identity of other products, CO2, N2 and H2O, a mechanism is discussed. Caution in handling the toxic antimony compounds is advised.
