Abstract
48 5th graders participated in a personalized and noncompetitive fitness module, and 47 5th-grade controls participated in a traditional, teacher-centered fitness module. Ss received 14 55-min lessons over 7 wks. Pre- and posttest measurements included the Superkids-Superfit Knowledge Test, the Children's Attitudes Toward Physical Activity Inventory, and a 1-mile run/walk. Findings show that the personalized module could substantially improve 1-mile run/walk times but that within 7 wks there was no significant difference in amount of cardiovascular fitness knowledge gain in Ss.
