Abstract

What behaviors do counselors view as healthy and appropriate for male and female clients? Broverman et al (1970) have questioned a sexually mixed group of helping professionals on the qualities they would ascribe to categories of healthy persons. They found that the adjectives these psychiatrists, psychologies, and social workers used to describe a healthy adult matched those used to describe a healthy male. The qualities of a healthy female, however, were different than those of a healthy adult.
