Using Animal Farm as a Medium for the Powerful Teaching of Critical Literacy and Social Studies
This article describes the use of film media to introduce the principles of critical literacy to classroom teachers enrolled in a graduate program and as a tool for teaching social studies concepts about power relationships. A framework is provided for adapting the principles of critical literacy to the elementary grades.
