Description of Work

An underrated aspect of Halloween is its marketability. From movies, TV shows, toys, figurines, and costumes, consumers everywhere are always looking for a valuable purchase during the October season. To capitalize on their seasonal opportunity, Halloween stores wait patiently throughout the year until their respective season to unleash the iconic Halloween advertisement. Examples of these ads include a Spirit Halloween 2021 ad featuring audio qualities of Halloween, a Phantom Superstores image displaying many rhetorical connections with a Halloween audience, and a Party City Halloween video that utilizes many Halloween conventions.

What genre was most common in their day-to-day moving throughout the world: Signs, Social Media Posts, TikTok Videos, Songs, Texts, Phone Calls, Emails, etc. They were asked to narrow that genre to a more specific category of genre: For example: Not just TikTok videos, but CleanTok videos. They were asked to pick something they encountered daily instead of what they actively sought. The goal was for students to observe something outside of their room or their phone.
