Los Angeles is home to hundreds of street food vendors. Street food carts and stands are abundant at almost every street corner in all of Los Angeles. The diversity of food and options are one of the main reasons of what makes the city great. Los Angeles streets offers from fresh fruit stands, to sizzling bacon wrapped hot dogs and their infamous street tacos. Simply because of the many things that make them incredibly delicious, the tacos are the unofficial official street food. Mexican street tacos are one of the foods that Los Angeles is known for. Even though they have not been officially acknowledged, their popularity, significance on the culture, and overall appreciation in LA deserve recognition.

Description of Assignment

Abstract for The Geographical Area Unofficial but Should Be Official Argument Geographical areas have things they specialize in or are known for. Students were asked to select something from their hometown (either birth home, current home, or aspirational home) and build an argument establishing that what they selected is the unofficial icon of that hometown. Students used the Toulmin Style for their arguments and based them on their own insights as residents of that geographical area. The purpose of the assignment was to ask students to pay attention to the space that shaped them and understand what makes it special.
