Every year KSU's Institute for Global Initiatives organizes a program to examine a specific country or region. The Portuguese speaking world has been chosen for the 2015-2016 academic year. Comprised of nine countries on four continents - Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, and São Tomé and Príncipe - the Portuguese Speaking World is a diverse region, with each country possessing a unique history, economy, political structure, and culture.

When searching for topics related to the Portuguese speaking world it may be advisable to use the subject option and enter "Portuguese" OR "(specific country name)". The Portuguese speaking countries include Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, and São Tomé and Príncipe.
