KSU Opera Theater: Hansel and Gretel
Hansel & Gretel resonates with both adults and children while becoming one of the most successful fairy-tale operas ever created. Engelbert Humperdinck’s opera is flavored with the sophisticated musicality he learned from his idol, Richard Wagner, while maintaining a charm and a light touch that were entirely his own. The opera acknowledges the darker features present in the Brothers Grimm version of the familiar folk tale, yet presents them within a frame of grace and humor.

Voice Honors Recital
One of the highlights of the KSU Bailey School of Music Voice Department is the prestigious Honors Recital. Upon recommendation from our panel of applied teachers, advanced singers are selected to perform in Morgan Concert Hall to showcase their talent. Repertoire ranges from Handel to Hoiby and Bach to Bernstein in this gala evening for friends and family accompanied by our professional collaborative pianists. These singers have the opportunity to coach with visiting professional artists such as Metropolitan Opera Mezzo Soprano, Jennifer Larmore as well as artists from the Atlanta Opera. We are proud of the high level of singing and technical training that is a hallmark of our KSU Voice Department, and we are pleased to be able to offer this wonderful evening of vocal music to the public.
