Abstract

The article examines the use of massive open online courses (MOOCs) in the professional development of K-12 education teachers. Citing her own experiences and literature on the best practices in teacher development, the author offers suggestions for using MOOCs as a resource such as selecting MOOCs based on school goals, making MOOCs a social experience for teachers, and incorporating MOOC completion into teacher evaluation systems.
