Abstract

This essay focuses on Robert Frost's poem "To Earthward." According to the author, the poem's meaning can be overlooked on a first reading because of the language that Frost uses. The author notes that "To Earthward" was an important poem for Frost, and discusses the impact of the death of Frost's wife Elinor on his poems. In addition to "To Earthward," the poems "The Subverted Flower" and "The Wind and the Rain" are discussed.
