Abstract

Queer Southernness is an aspect of being and feeling Southern engulfed in conventional heteronormative notions of Southern identity. Compounding fundamentalist Christianity with an already anomalous, queer Southerness reveals a complexity of being-in-place from which to question dominant, constricting conventions. This article examines the normalization of straightness, through doctrine and practice, within fundamentalist Protestantism.
