Abstract

The article details the programs and plans of the city of Beijing, China, for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. In 1998, the nation began a 10-year program of U.S.$12 billion to improve the environment. By 2007, the city of Beijing will have invested $12.2 billion on major environmental projects designed to upgrade the city's environmental profile far above international standards. The Beijing Olympic Bid Committee and the Chinese Olympic Committee are handling all sponsorship sales.
