Abstract
Twenty years ago, the academic study of family business was born with the publication of a special issue of the journal Organization Dynamics (1983). This issue of The Journal of Business Venturing presages the dawn of a new area of study: family business entrepreneurship and venture creation. The papers in this issue represent the newest thinking on the subject and provide a significant contribution.
