Abstract

This article discusses South Africa’s Language in Education Policy, being that it affects all literacy development initiatives under South Africa’s new constitution. It will provide a brief background on the development of the policy, cite portions of the policy, state some of the problems observed by policymakers and researchers concerning the implementation of the language policy, and share what appear to be some promising directions to finding solutions to these problems.
